Project Description:
Afro Techno is a design exploration that asks a single, provocative question: What if African art never stopped evolving? Rooted in the philosophy of Afrofuturism, this work imagines a continuous lineage — from the geometric precision of Kente cloth and the bold iconography of Adinkra symbols, to the circuitry of modern technology. It proposes that these visual languages were never primitive antecedents to "progress," but rather early expressions of the same human impulse that builds computers, writes code, and designs systems.
Local and Regional Impacts of the Project:
Regionally, the project contributes to a growing movement across the African continent to position local design as world-class and export-worthy. It pushes back against the tendency to import aesthetic frameworks from elsewhere, and instead argues that Africa has its own rich design intelligence — one that is globally relevant and commercially viable.
