Project Description:
The King Room and Standard Bathroom at the Cairo Marriott Hotel & Omar Khayyam Casino embody a modern palace experience, merging the 19th-century grandeur of the Gezirah Palace with contemporary luxury. In the King Room custom storytelling wallpaper and carpets draw inspiration from the palace’s grand staircase and intricate Islamic ceiling motifs, reimagined as modern geometric patterns. The regal ambiance is enriched by a sophisticated palette of leather-upholstered headboards, marble accents, and rich wood wall cladding, complemented by bespoke lighting including sculptural wall lamps and desk fixtures. This narrative continues into the Standard Bathroom, where marble-looking porcelain defines floors and walls, highlighted by a striking accent wall. Antique brass finishes on the shower system and washbasin mixers elegantly bridge historical charm with modern functionality. The result is a seamless, inviting space that celebrates Egypt’s cultural heritage while delivering a world-class, contemporary hospitality experience.

Project Innovation / Specification:
The King Room concept consists of storytelling wallpapers and rugs that reinterpret historical architectural elements—such as the palace’s iconic Italian-crafted grand staircase and ornate Islamic ceiling motifs—into modern, artistic expressions. It features porcelain flooring paired with a custom rug, marble accents, wood wall cladding, and a leather headboard. Bespoke furniture, including a luggage bench and minibar, complements a comprehensive lighting scheme with wall, table, and desk lamps, creating an elegant, functional retreat. The Standard Bathroom emphasizes refined finishes, with marble-looking porcelain floors, walls, and an accent wall, while all metal fixtures—including the washbasin and shower system—are in a signature antique brass finish. Modern conveniences, such as a shower toilet, ensure comfort and functionality within this regal setting.

Project Sustainability Approach:
The sustainability approach for the King Room and Standard Bathroom at the Cairo Marriott Hotel emphasizes the preservation of cultural heritage and the longevity of high-quality materials to reduce environmental and social impact. The design integrates durable, premium materials like marble and wood with timeless craftsmanship, ensuring that the interiors remain "regal and relevant" for years to come, thereby reducing the frequency of renovations. This philosophy of "social and cultural sustainability" ensures the hotel remains a vital part of Cairo’s architectural fabric, balancing modern functional needs with a deep respect for the existing structure and local history.
