Product Description:
•Zig-zag Light Fixture Year of production: 2024 Material: plastic bottle caps and metal Dimensions: Height 100 x Length 46 x Depth 30 cm The work reflect profound ecological and cultural themes. The "Zigzag" light fixture, made with metal and plastic bottle caps, addresses the paradox of overconsumption and its environmental effects. It also highlights the traditional culture of the Akan people through the representation of a diamond-shaped symbol representing destiny and duality, fertility and protection, balance and unity.
Product Innovation / Specification:
The innovation is particularly evident in the lighting fixtures made with metal combined with plastic bottle caps. The plastic bottle caps are woven together to create patterns that mimic fabric. These caps play a central role in the lighting fixtures, combining functionality and aesthetics while promoting recycling and environmental protection.
Product Sustainability Approach:
By incorporating plastic bottle caps into an upcycling process (transforming the product without deconstructing it) to create light fixtures, waste is reduced while simultaneously transforming them into valuable products with a utility exceeding their original purpose. This, in turn, contributes to improving the well-being of the population.
Local and Regional Impacts of the Product:
Our creation contribute to improving the living environment and the well-being of the population. Reusing plastic bottle caps in an upcycling process helps combat unsanitary conditions, contributes to protecting our environment, and gives plastic waste a new life. Transforming plastic bottle caps into functional art objects that beautify our spaces demonstrates the importance of design in our daily lives.
