Project Description:
We are a design-led contemporary menswear brand for multifaceted men. Reflecting our approach to life, the brand is organised into three lines: Soul, encompassing contemplation, purity, connection, and integrity; Art, including impactful work, creativity, and leadership and; Outdoor, tactility, physicality and a deep connection to the natural environment. Founded in 2019, the brand is built on a commitment to environmental and economic sustainability. We design with intention, creating garments that stand apart from disposable, trend-driven fashion with our pieces being made to endure. In recognition of this approach, we received the Trans-Seasonal Award at the 2021 TWYG Sustainable Fashion Awards for our sustainably crafted, perennial designs We create two collections a year, approaching each season as a process of refinement rather than reinvention. Through careful attention to silhouette, material development, colour, embellishments and construction, we focus on creating timeless garments of lasting quality. Seasonal artist collaborations form a considered extension of this work, appearing as limited-edition pieces within the wider collection.
Project Innovation / Specification:
At our core is the belief that innovation in fashion must be considered and intentional. In a global industry driven by speed and excess, our response has been to design with clarity, develop styles deeply, and refine them incrementally over time. Each garment is conceived as part of a long-term wardrobe, relevant through continued wear, rather than as a momentary trend. To structure this thinking, the brand is organised into three conceptual lines: Soul, Art, and Outdoor (as highlighted above). These are not marketing categories, but design frameworks that guide decisions around each piece, including silhouette, fabric, colour, and finish. This system allows us to innovate within constraints, ensuring that every new product strengthens the overall language of the brand (and the customers wardrobe) rather than diluting it.
Project Sustainability Approach:
We partner with specialist Southern African factories that are responsibly run, uphold local craftsmanship, pay fairly, and treat their employees with dignity. Supporting and strengthening the local garment industry is central to our ethos. These relationships are collaborative and long-term, with ongoing engagement to refine design, improve quality, and minimise waste. Our products are crafted from natural fibres that are breatheable, biodegradable, durable, and recyclable. Fibres are sourced and dyed; textiles are woven/knitted in collaboration with local mills using the highest-quality regional materials, and garments are sewn in Southern Africa. Regular collaboration across this supply chain is fundamental to our process. This is truly an end-to-end story of African design and manufacturing. We remain invested in each garment beyond the point of purchase through an in-store repair service. In addition, fabric that is not suitable for production is repurposed into shapable tote bags, ensuring minimal material waste.
Local and Regional Impacts of the Project:
Our local and regional impact lies in strengthening Southern Africa’s fashion ecosystem through sustained local manufacturing, skills retention, and economic circulation. By producing all garments locally in considered runs, we support specialised factories, preserves technical skills, and keeps value within regional supply chains. Our retail stores function as community-facing spaces and live research environments, enabling direct connection with customers and ongoing feedback. Culturally, we aspire to showcase contemporary African menswear as restrained, rigorous, and globally relevant, while encouraging more sustainable consumer behaviour through longevity-focused design and reduced overproduction.
