Garreth van Niekerk and Alan Hayward are the Executive Creative Directors of Decorex Africa and 100% Design Africa, where they lead the creative vision, programming and industry direction of the shows. Together, they work across design, curation, retail and cultural strategy, focusing on building sustainable pathways for African designers and strengthening the local design ecosystem.
Garreth is a journalist, editor and creative director with extensive experience shaping design narratives, cultural projects and retail concepts. He has held editorial roles at leading South African design publications and continues to contribute regularly. His work spans writing, curation and the development of platforms that connect designers to audiences locally and internationally.
Alan is a designer, curator and industry strategist whose work includes developing collaborative product collections, supporting emerging talent and building new models for South African design businesses. Both are founding board members of Women in Design Africa and are regular speakers at conferences and events across the continent on the future of design in Africa.
