Studio Propolis is a workshop focused design studio setup by Naeem Biviji and Bethan Rayner in 2005. They are passionate about making things and work with different materials across disciplines and scales. Working between Nairobi where their studio originated, and Warrington in the North West of England, their hands on approach as designer makers has allowed them to take on varied commissions from designing buildings to crafting small spaces and furniture in their workshop on the banks of the river Mersey.
The relationship between locally available materials – wherever they are working, and their own craft culture informs their design thinking and fabrication process. Bethan and Naeem both teach at the Liverpool School of Architecture.
