Tshepo Mas is an award-winning illustrator and storyteller based in Johannesburg. His work is rooted in African culture, inspired by his township upbringing and the stories he’s collected through his travels across the continent. He runs a creative studio that focuses on illustration, murals, and design that is bold, idea-led, and grounded in storytelling.
His style blends African doodle patterns, strong colour use, and detailed composition to bring meaningful narratives to life. He has worked across various industries, including advertising, branding, publishing, and environmental design, always aiming to create work that is both culturally relevant and emotionally resonant.
As a jury member, Tshepo is drawn to work that is conceptually strong, well-crafted, and unapologetically original. He values design that has intention—design that speaks to people, tells stories, and reflects where we come from and where we’re going. His goal is to honour work that celebrates identity, challenges convention, and moves the industry forward.
